David Wells qualified as an Osteopath from the European School of Osteopathy in the UK in 2000 and subsequently as an Applied Kinesiologist in the UK in 2002. Prior to taking this "path", David worked in the UK as an engineer in the telecommunications industry. David was a very active outdoor person and engaged in activities such as cycle racing, kayaking, rock climbing, caving and para-gliding, amongst many others. He sustained a few injuries during some of these activities which led to an interest in body mechanics and function. After fracturing his ankle during rock climbing, David decided to return to college as a mature student to study osteopathy. In his own words, he said, "Osteopathy, in fact, treats much more than mechanical problems and sports injuries. It was originally conceived as a complete system for disease prevention and the restoration to health. I try to stick closely to this philosophy in treating my clients, and thus attempt to diagnose the real causes of pain and ill-health. Therefore, I treat many other health conditions on top of muscle and joint pains frequently. David incorporates a wide variety of techniques, including cranial treatment, which can be very beneficial for the young, the elderly, or those who are not keen on the "clicks" associated with osteopathy. He frequently employs the use of Applied Kinesiology to diagnose one's contributing factors and root causes of dis-ease or ailments. It is in fact, a very accurate system of diagnosis that is extremely useful in determining what mode of treatment or product will work for each unique individual.
As Applied Kinesiology is painless and manual (personally carried out by the therapist), it is suitable for anyone including babies, children, adults and the elderly. It is commonly used to identify food allergies or intolerances, determine nutritional deficiencies, test for the presence of viruses, yeasts, bacteria, parasites. It can also be used for diagnosing conditions such as digestive problems, migraine, repeat infections, fatigue, lack of energy, hormonal imbalances, weight loss and much more. David has been running his own osteopathic practice, "The Complementary Health Practice", in North Molton, England between 2001 to 2004, and has practiced in various health clinics in Devon & Cornwall, UK during that same period. He subsequently moved on to Singapore, where he joined Osteopathic Treatment Centre.
However, in 2008, he decided to take Osteopathy and Kinesiology to Nepal on a voluntary basis, successfully treating a number of indigenous people for a variety of health issues. Where drugs and established treatments are not readily available, a natural hands-on approach is often a great benefit. David continues to run voluntary "Osteopathy Camps" in the foothills. While he lives and works primarily in Nepal now, he makes regular trips to the clinic in Singapore. David has personally performed close to 20,000 treatments on people from many various backgrounds, including professional athletes, gold medal Olympians, racing drivers, media celebrities, ambassadors, knights, taxi drivers, babies, pregnant mothers, cancer patients amongst others. He has even successfully treated horses, dogs and cats employing Osteopathy and Applied Kinesiology. David had also been featured on Singapore television and live radio, and is regularly published in newspapers and magazines.
He is one of a handful of certified Blood Type Diet practitioners in Singapore and guest speaker at the inaugural Blood Type Diet certification programme in Singapore in 2008. He has lectured to medically trained staff in Singapore General Hospital and given health talks to the general public. On top of that, he has conducted health talks for the local community organised by Siglap South Community Centre. Dr Wells’ passion is to re-invoke the power of nature in the patients he treats. He says, ”Nature works. Encourage it”
